Welcome to the wonderful world of FREEBIES and FREEBIE trading!

I compiled a list of things I have found most helpful in this business as well as ‘must do‘ things in the freebie trading world.

Things to do PRIOR to starting…

1. Create a new email account: Use this new email account solely for this business. Yahoo and Google (gmail) both offer free email accounts. Once you start signing up on freebie websites, you may start getting more email than usual. If you have an account specifically for this purpose, personal email won’t get lost in the shuffle.

2. Single out one credit card: To complete most offers you will need a credit card. I have one credit card that I use exclusively for this business. It makes it easier to keep track of charges. You CAN use a debit card as long as it has a visa/mc logo. You CANNOT use any sort of prepaid credit or debit card. You CANNOT use a gift card. You also CANNOT use paypal plugin.

3. Paypal Verified: If you don’t already have one, sign up for a paypal account and get verified. Not all trade partners will require you to be verified but some do!

4. Use FIREFOX: Firefox seems to be the best browser to use to insure receiving credit for offers.

5. READ READ READ: Read as much as you can about the freebie business,  the FLR forum is a great ressource. There is lots and lots of very helpful information.

YOU ARE NOW READY TO TRADE!!!

It is time to find a trade partner. You can find a trade partner in a few ways on the Free Lunch Room forum;

Creating a new thread in the LOOKING TO COMPLETE OFFERS section and choose someone who responds to your thread.

Search the PAYING FOR REFERRALS section and find someone you are comfortable with.
Read all over the forum and click on the signature of someone you respect to view his/her trade thread.

Once you and your trade partner have agreed on a trade follow the next steps…

1. Proxy: Make sure you are not using a proxy server.

Use this PROXY TEST and make sure you aren’t using one.
2. Computer: You can only complete IFW’s from ONE IP address. Keep that in mind. You cannot complete offers from work and home because that will show as two IP addresses and that is violating the Terms of Service on most IFW’s. You also cannot complete IFW’s from publicly accessed computer, library, school, etc.
3. Referral link: Click on the referral link that your trade partner will send you.
4. Register: Register for the site using accurate information. Once you are registered on the freebie site, you will not need to login using the referral link anymore. You will now log in using the email address and password you chose when registering.
***If you are registering for a site on a network you have already registered for, make sure you choose the EXTEND MY CURRENT ACCOUNT option. Do not sign up with a new email address or you will be violating terms of service. That is considered having multiple accounts and is NOT allowed!***

5. Review offers: Take your time and look at the offers on the freebie site. Make a list of ones you are interested in.

Keep in mind when reviewing offers, there are many offers from the PACIFIC WEBWORKS company;

Amazon Amazing Web Stores,
Chuck Mullaney eBay,
eAuction Expert,
eAuction Tutor,
eBay Toolkit,
Google Home Business Kit,
Google SEO Supervisor,
Increase My Margin,
QuickBooks,
Quick Start Business Kit,
Yahoo Search Success Center,
Yahoo Tool Kit

You are only allowed to complete 1 offer from this company.

CLEARING COOKIES directions specific to each browser.

OR download COOKIE CLEANER

6. LOGOUT: Logout of the freebie website.

7. CLEAR YOUR COOKIES:

8. LOG IN: Log back in to the freebie site and complete an offer.

9. COMPLETE OFFERS: After you complete an offer make sure you wait on the confirmation page for a few minutes before closing it.

10. As long as you have not gone to any other site, you can continue to complete offers without clearing cookies again. If you have gone to another site follow directions 6 – 9 again to clear cookies.

Things to remember…

Make sure you keep DETAILED NOTES of everything. I created a spreadsheet that lists the following information;

Name of freebie site you are completing:
Name of trader you are working with:
Name of offer completed:
Phone number affiliated with offer:
Date offer completed:
Offer terms:
Cost of offer:
Date to cancel by if you are not pleased with offer:

Even if an offer says ‘INSTANT’ most of the time it will not be instant. Just sit tight and wait it out!!

Feel free to ask any and all questions or leave a comment.

****VERY IMPORTANT****

MAKE SURE YOU CLEAR YOUR COOKIES BEFORE COMPLETING OFFERS.

Before you decide to dive headfirst into making money with Freebies, there are some terms you need know and learn the meaning.  There are several new words and acronyms relative to the freebie industry that you may not have heard of before.  The freebie trading industry has a language of its own, and knowing and understanding these terms will lead to your success. Here is a list of the most popular terms.

IFW Network: Stand for the networks that produces a series of IFW (Incentive Freebie Website).

Affiliate: The middleman between the Offer Company and the IFW site. When you click on an offer it is redirected through the affiliate company and they are who gives us credit for completing the offers and pay the IFW for each credited lead.

Avatar: A user’s representation of himself or herself on a forum and other communities in the form of an icon/picture.

Thread: A page post on a forum.

BUMP: BUMP stands for Bring Up My Post. Anytime someone posts in a thread, that thread goes to the top of the list and is more visible. You are allowed to BUMP your trade thread twice per day, so people take advantage of doing that.

CC: Credit Card. Most offers require the use of a credit card. There are some sites that are no-cc sites. However, these do not count towards your iTrader Rating at the Free Lunch Room Forum

Cookies: Parcels of text sent by a server to a web browser and then sent back unchanged by the browser each time it accesses that server. It is the means of communication between the offer sites and IFWs. They need to be transferred in order for you to get credited. Read more about optimizing your cookies here.

DIY: A “Do it yourself” site. These sites do not require you to refer anyone. You get incentives for just signing up and completing offers on your own. It isn’t as lucrative as referral based sites, but it is a way of making some extra cash.

FLR: Free Lunch Room – A trading forum that used to be sponsored by Project Payday. It is very “newbie friendly”.

CalyStyle 101: A Freebie Trading forum that offers great ressources and video tutorials on how to make money with freebies as well as affiliate earnings.

Forever Green/Repeatable: When a Freebie/IFW site is forever green/repeatable, it means that once you have met the offer requirements (gone green), you no longer have to complete any offers. You can continue to refer individuals and cashout as many times as you like. It’s a beautiful Thing. For a list of Forever Green/Repeatable sites, click here

Gone Red/On Hold: When a referral has gone red, that individual has violated one or more of the IFW’s Terms of Service, and his/her account has been put on hold until the issue is resolved. When this happens, the referrer reserves the right to a refund.

Green: When your referal has gone green, this means that they have signed up at a freebie site and completed the offer requirements of that particular site.

IM: Instant Messaging (IM) is a form of real-time communication between two or more people based on typed text. The text is conveyed via computers connected over a network such as the Internet.

ISP: An Internet service provider (abbr. ISP, also called Internet access provider or IAP) is a company or business that provides access to the Internet and related services.

MCR: Manual Credit Request. If you complete an offer and didn’t receive credit, you can sometimes fill out a Manual Credit Request to the IFW and they will investigate it further. However, many sites do not allow this any more.

PM: Private message. When communicating with users via a forum (e.g. FLR), you usually use a built-in messaging system. This is referred to as sending a PM.

Prize: An incentive that freebie sites offer you in exchange for meeting the offer requirements and referring individuals to complete offers. Examples are iPods, computers, laptops, TVs and cash in your PayPal.

Referral Link: A link that is assigned to a particular individual that has their unique user ID so that they can send others as there referral.

TOS: Terms of Service.

TR: iTrader Rating (TR) shows the number of trades an individual has completed with other individuals at a certain forum (i.e. the Free Lunch Room, Anything4Free, Referral Swapper).

I will be upating this post with addition terms over time. If you have some terms you would like to add, or  you need additional explanation please leave a comment.
